2020 is officially is here and with it comes the the arrival of Veganuary.
What is Veganuary?
As well as a creative play on the name of the month, Veganuary encourages people to adopt a plant-based diet for the entire month of January. Whether you then go onto to become a fully fledged vegan or not is entirely up to you but it’s a great opportunity to give it a try if you’ve been thinking about it.
“Okay… so where can I eat now?” - If you’ve decided to opt-in to Veganuary this year then this is probably a question you’ve asked yourself by now. To give you a helping hand, we’ve put a list together of city centre shops and restaurants that are sure to satisfy your taste buds this month.
1. Turtle Bay
With 28 tasty dishes to chose from you’ll be spoilt for choice at this vibrant Caribbean restaurant and bar. For big hearty bowls of meat and dairy free soul food there’s Jerk Tofu, Curry Aubergine and Coconut Rundown. If you’re feeling particularly peckish then you can’t go wrong with the Vegan Grill Down.
2. Clean Cut Kitchen
Located in intu Victoria centre, Clean Cut Kitchen pride themselves on clean and healthy eating. You’ll find plenty of tasty plant-based options here that are packed full of flavour. You can also bulk order your meals making it perfect for planners.
Formerly known as ‘YO! Sushi”, the Japanese inspired restaurant are home to a large collection of delicious vegan dishes. A quick glance over the menu will reveal that there’s much more on offer here than sushi alone. What’s more is that vegan plates are only £2.50 each on Wednesdays!
4. Annie’s Burger Shack
Annie’s is a regular spot for Vegans in Nottingham, which at first, may seem a little surprising for a burger restaurant. Things become clear when you find out that the award winning restaurant offer a vegan version of nearly every item on the menu. If you’re craving a top notch burger, this is the place to go.
The internet pretty much exploded when Greggs unveiled their vegan sausage roll last year and it seems they aren’t planning to stop with the vegan goodness any time soon. 2020 is the year of the vegan steak bake and it’s already received glowing reviews.
6. The Calcutta Club
This award winning fine-dining restaurant is just the thing if you’re craving Indian cuisine. The only thing to match the incredible food here is the above and beyond customer service. You’ll feel like the guest of honour throughout your entire visit. Enjoy!
7. The Angel Microbrewery
If you’re in the mood for a Sunday roast or fancy a classic burger then you won’t go wrong with The Angel. Their menu is bursting with vegan options that are so good you’ll be making multiple visits to try them all.
8. Marks & Spencer
If a convenient meal is what you need then you’ll find just what you’re looking for in Marks & Spencer’s ‘Plant Kitchen’ range. These delicious meals are perfect for a quick lunch or dinner and offer a level or variety not often found else where. Just be sure to check the labels as some of the options are only vegetarian.
Not only do Wagamama offer a brilliant range of vegan dishes but you can tell they genuinely love creating them. Their brand new vegan tuna dish is the latest creation and it does not disappoint. It’s only available throughout Veganuary so pop in soon to avoid missing out.
A restaurant famous for chicken nuggets and beef burgers may seem like an unlikely choice for this list but there’s actually plenty to choose from; especially with the introduction of their new vegan dippers. It’s easier than ever to order vegan at Mcdonald’s so be sure to add it to your list of considerations next time you’re craving a little fast food.
