If you’re one of the heroic few doing essential work in the city right now then this blog is for you. Here are just a few of the places still open in the city for your morning coffee, breakfast and tasty lunch time treats.
200° coffee house
With two locations in the city (one just off the square and another near the train station), stopping off to grab a good cup of joy from 200° should be convenient whether you head into the city from the north or south on your way to work. The company are a giant success story that started right here in Nottingham and have since expanded around the UK. If you haven’t popped in yet, then we’d definitely recommend giving them a try.
Pret a Manger
In case you missed it, Pret launched their subscription service recently and it offers great bang for your buck. For just £20 a month, you can enjoy up to 5 cups of any coffee you like per day. They don’t offer the speciality coffee found in other coffee houses, but if that’s not a priority, then your caffeine fix may suddenly become a lot more affordable by opting for Pret.
The Specialty Coffee Shop
If you’re serious about your coffee and want to purchase it from a coffee house that shares your enthusiasm, then The Speciality Coffee Shop is the place to go. Perfection is the aim here and the friendly owners don’t disappoint.
Annie’s Burger Shack
Annie’s are famed in Nottingham for their burgers but they also cook up a pretty impressive breakfast menu. If you have time, then we’d recommend the lumberjack or French toast. But for those who need something on the go, you can’t go wrong with the breakfast muffins. Conveniently, you can book your breakfast ahead of collection so its ready to go when you are.
With four to choose from in the city, no matter where you work you’re likely to come across the golden arches on the way. They’re currently serving a reduced menu but fan favourites are still on offer. It may not be the most adventurous breakfast, but a Sausage & Egg McMuffin never fails to hit the spot!
The perfect blend of tradition and contemporary, Birds offer classic pastries and also serve up a phenomenal breakfast bap packed with bacon and sausage. If you need something quick and tasty, then you won’t go far wrong here.
Fancy Mexican cuisine on the go? Barburrito is the place to go. There’s a few tasty options to choose from here but their famous burritos are the real hero. It’s a pretty filling meal all by its self but if you’re still feeling peckish then you can add a bag of tortilla chips for good measure.
Did you know there are over seven million Boots Meal Deal combinations? If you’re looking for a fast and affordable meal with plenty of options (seven million in this case!) then Boots is a great shout. As with most meal deals, you get a main, snack and a drink - You just need to decide what each of them will be. Some people even argue that creating the perfect meal deal combo is actually somewhat of an art form; there’s even Facebook groups where people submit their choice for others to judge. Maybe give it a go if you think you’ve created something really special!
Head to Solo Grano for authentic, rich and ridiculously tasty Italian cooking. The fresh pasta and oven baked pizza here are bursting with flavour, giving off the impression that it should be enjoyed at a sit down meal rather than on the go. Being able to quickly pick it up to enjoy at your desk or break room almost feels a little mischievous; like you’ve cheated the system somehow. Essentially, it’s very good and you’d be doing yourself a disservice not to give it a try.
Whilst we all know lockdown is necessary to keep our loved ones safe, there’s no escaping the fact that it can be pretty boring at times; not to mention the impact it can have on your mental health....
