Looking for free things to do with the kids in Nottingham this summer? Keeping the children entertained during the school holidays can be an expensive, as well as an exhausting business.
Which is why we will be hosting four weekly Moments of Magic this August for families to enjoy for free!
Entertainers will be out on the street intermittently from 10.30am to 3.30pm on each Thursday of the month, creating a ‘Moment of Magic’ for visitors to the city centre.
Thursday 4 August – Disco Scarecrows. This pair are not called the Disco Scarecrows for nothing, they love to dance and to get people dancing with them, tell funny jokes, blow bubbles, and pose for photos.
Thursday 11 August – Paddington Bear & Mr Brown. Her Majesty’s favourite bear accompanied by Mr Brown.
Thursday 18 August – Stilt walking artists. The stilt walking artists will be on the lookout for people to pose for a drawing… just don’t expect a masterpiece!
Thursday 25 August – Roaming face painter creating small designs for children to enjoy.
In Nottingham city centre, there are plenty of free and low-cost events taking place throughout the summer, including Nottingham Arts Club! - a new collaboration with cultural venues which will help parents keep everyone happy, even on a tight budget.
If you decide to visit the city on public transport, Nottingham Tram has launched a new Family Group Ticket to help families access the great range of activities on offer during the school holidays, allowing a group of eight to travel for as little as £1 each per day.
The new Family Group Ticket will mean that 2 adults and up to 6 children can travel together on the entire network all day at a discounted rate of £8 until Wednesday 31 August 2022.
NCT Buses are also offering 15% discount on their Group Day tickets through the NCTX Buses app. Riders just need to select ‘mobile tickets’ in the app, scroll down and select NCT partners - choose your ticket and enter ITSINNOTTINGHAM as the discount code to enjoy discounted fares. Activate your ticket when you’re ready to board the bus and make unlimited journeys on NCT buses in Nottingham for the day.
