Six Nottingham Gyms To Check Out On World Heart Day

Thursday 29 September 2022 is World Heart Day, an event established by the World Heart Federation to increase awareness of cardiovascular diseases. One of the best things you can do to reduce your chances of having any cardiovascular diseases is to work out regularly. With this in mind we thought we’d introduce you to six of the best gyms in Nottingham City Centre.

Kinetik Fitness

An independent gym in the heart of Nottingham City Centre. It’s owned by husband and wife team Ali and Sarah West, who have two decades of experience in the fitness industry between them. If you want to get a sense of what it’s all about you can also listen to Ali West’s Kinetik Fitness podcast.
12 Bottle Lane, NG1 2HL

M10 Fitness

Another local independent gym, this time fronted by personal trainer Mark Coles. Based on Maid Marian Way, this place specialises in personal training. Again, if you’d like to get a sense of what it’s about and try before you buy then we suggest you listen to Mark’s Mastery podcast.
Unit B3C, Chapel Quarter, Maid Marian Way, NG1 6HQ

Nottingham YMCA Gym

With some of the best value gym packages in the city on offer (currently £40 for 3 months), if you’re looking to sign up to a gym during the cost of living crisis then this place is worth a look. They are a not-for-profit, meaning your gym membershipmoney helps support programmes and services for vulnerable adults and children across the city.
4 Shakespeare Street, NG1 4FG

The Gym Group

Great value pay as you go gym membership. They’re open 24 hours a day and are located in Trinity Square, which means it’s perfect for those of you that work in town and want to go and work out afterwards. No long-term contracts, so if you have a change of heart or realise that it’s not for you then you don’t have much to lose.
14 Trinity Square, NG1 4AF

UFC (aka the Ultimate Fighting Championships) has become a spectator sensation in the UK over the last decade. So when Nottingham became one of the first cities in the country to bag an official UFC gym it was something of a coup. If you want to learn how to compete in fighting tournaments, rather than just watch them on television, this is the gym for you.
Huntingdon Street, NG1 3NL

Virgin Active

Set in an old train station, this gym features a huge gym floor, hundreds of classes and activities, a lovely healthy cafe and a pristine swimming pool. If you're a parent check out Club V, which houses a creche and activity centre for your little uns. If you’re after a workout, this place does it all in style.

London Rd, NG2 3AE
