We've created a handy list of events to help you fight off lockdown boredom. From pub quizzes to story time for the little ones, there's something for everyone to enjoy.
Following the announcement of lockdown, one of Nottingham's most popular burger restaurants decided to trial their weekly pub quiz online. Fast forward nine weeks (at the time of writing) and it's safe to say the quiz is a roaring success! Annie's run their quiz every Wednesday evening via their thriving Facebook page and offer contestants two ways of playing. Essentially, you can play along live or if you can't make it then you can play along a little later. As long as you submit you're score before 11am then you'll be in with a chance of winning. Winners will enjoy a free meal once lockdown is lifted! Click HERE to visit the event page.
Left Lion's Sofa Sessions are a brilliant celebration of Nottingham's creative scene and prove to be really good entertainment. The sessions are streamed nightly via Left Lion's Facebook page and you can either watch them at the time or come back to them later. The sessions play host to a variety of talent and styles including singer-song writers, comedians, poets and everything in-between. Best of all, Left Lion have impressively vowed to stream a new session every evening until the end of lockdown so it doesn't look like we'll be running out of content to watch any time soon! You can watch the sessions HERE.
As the title suggests, this one is perfect for those of us with little ones running around at home. Promising singing, laughing and fun stories; this weekly event is sure to provide some much needed entertainment for children during in lockdown. You can watch the event every Wednesday at 11am via the link above. Alternatively just search for Nottingham City Council Library and Information Services on Facebook.
Despite mainly being organised via Facebook, Rescue Rooms opt to use Twitch as their streaming platform of choice. This is something you'll need to sign up to but it's free, only takes a couple of minutes and is definitely worth it to take part. As well as a variety of head scratching questions to tackle, you can also request your favourite songs which the quiz master may then play during the stream. If you've ever been to a quiz at Rescue Rooms then you'll most likely already know what to expect and if you haven't then you're in for a great time! The quiz is hosted weekly every Thursday at 7pm. Usually hosted in main hall of the iconic Rock City, Rebel Rebel is the bigger, better and improved replacement for their HEY HEY HEY club night. With 'normal' club nights still very much being a no-go for the foreseeable future, Rock City have ingeniously managed to move the event online. With a new theme each week and back to back hits played all night, Rebel Rebel is definitely and online event not to miss. Catch the virtual club night every Saturday via Rock City's Twitch channel.
