Nottingham Christmas Market 2021

It may only be November, but Nottingham Christmas Market, or ‘Winter Wonderland’ is fast approaching, and it’s the perfect opportunity to start getting in the Christmas spirit. Full of magic, the Christmas market is an exciting event that draws people in from all over the country. Last year the market was cancelled, but this year everything is going ahead as planned and it is exciting to see the vast array of activities that are returning to Nottingham over the Christmas period. The event is completely free to attend, so make sure you don’t miss it!

When is Nottingham Christmas Market?

The Christmas market begins on November 15th and carries on until December 31st, with it only being closed on Christmas Day. This gives you plenty of time to explore the wonderful variety of market and food stalls.

Not only does the Christmas market make an excellent day out for families and friends, but it is the perfect opportunity to pick up some unique Christmas gifts from independent retailers. There are over 40 Bavarian chalet-style stalls to visit, offering gifts, crafts and speciality foods, so there is a lot to explore, buy and taste!

Where is the Christmas Market taking place?

The market will be taking place across two locations for 2021: at Old Market Square, Nottingham, NG1 2BY, and at Trinity Square, NG1 3EN.

Known as Nottingham’s ‘beating heart’, Old Market Square is a focal location in Nottingham and is used for many events as well as the Winter Wonderland, such as the Riviera Beach, which takes place every Summer. Trinity Square will feature a festive winter village, with plenty to get people into the Christmas spirit, including a festive bar, igloos and kissing stands.

There are a host of things to do in the area, so if you have had your fill of the market, you may wish to visit some of the local shops or pubs that surround the Old Market Square. One notable pub in the area is The Bell Inn. This historical pub is a Grade II listing, dates back to around 1437 and claims to be one of the oldest in the city.

What is there to do at Nottingham Christmas Market?

Not only do you have an exciting array of stalls to visit, but there are also several other activities and magical Christmas attractions taking place. There is a 32m high observation wheel that allows you to safely overlook the market and the Christmas lights from a birds-eye view, whilst you take in the magnificently decorated Christmas tree.

Classic Christmas fair rides will also be available, and the beautiful surroundings and architecture of Nottingham are a feature in their own right. If the wonderful food and drink at the market don’t take your fancy, there are an array of fantastic eateries around the square to visit such as French Living, which offers a tiny piece of France in the centre of Nottingham.

Nottingham is a vibrant and exciting city that is rich in culture, with activities and events taking place every month throughout the year. From live music, art installations, comedy nights and more, there is something for everyone.
