And The Winner Of Nottingham's Best Independent Business 2019 Is...

Throughout May and June we asked you to tell us who you thought should be crowned Nottingham’s Best Independent Business 2019, and you showed a deluge of support for your local traders. The votes were counted, our mystery shoppers took a nosey around each finalist business, and the winner was announced on Thursday. So let us give a huge congratulations to Bar Iberico for retaining title this year!

So what can you expect from the Nottingham’s favourite indie business? Well, if you haven’t yet had the pleasure, Bar Iberico brings the rich flavour and rustic flair of Spain to the heart of Hockley, with tantalizing tapas and an alluring atmosphere.

Nottingham was first introduced to the Iberico name with Iberico World Tapas, which opened in 2007. Set in a grade II listed building under the National Justice Museum, it soon received Michelin's famous Bib Gourmand accolade for excellent food at great value. It wasn’t until 2016 that the team opened the more easy-going sister restaurant, Bar Iberico, which in three short years has become a regular award winner, with rave reviews from critics and customers alike.

Embracing the Spanish culture of relaxed dining, you’ll find an atmosphere buzzing with energy. As with the tapas tradition of sharing small courses, the dishes pile out one by one, spurring a flow of lively conversation and drinks. The menu features unique delicacies as Basque pork pinchos with quince glaze and morcilla and apple croquetas with carrot marmalade, along with flatbreads, charcuterie and cheese, and some excellent Spanish wines.

It’s not only for the varied menu that a few visits to Bar Iberico are needed however, but also for what each dining area has to offer. Intimate evening meals can be had downstairs in cosy booths, or light lunches enjoyed alfresco as the bustle of Hockley passes by.

Hearty breakfasts take a Spanish twist, with chorizo, churros and lots of other choices, while the brilliant value Menu Rapido of two tapas and sourdough is perfect for a indulgent lunchtime treat. As the evening approaches diners share light tapas and drinks in laid back seating at the bar, while the tables are laden with sizzling, aromatic dishes. Whether the occasion is casual or special, Bar Iberico is a memorable dining experience and you’ll probably wish you’d ordered just one more dish.
