Over 60 businesses went head to head in a competition to win Nottingham’s 2019 Best Independent Business. The road to the top has been a long and challenging one but we’re excited to announce that after thousands of votes, multiple mystery shops and judging from a panel tough enough to make Simon Cowell look nice, your independent champions have been selected. Find out who won below!



WINNER: Hopkinson Vintage, Antiques & Art Centre

A paradise for treasure seekers, vintage lovers and curators of beautiful home aesthetics, Hopkinson is one of the most exciting and charismatic attractions to visit in Nottingham.With over 60 stalls of vintage clothing, beautiful antiques, retro furniture and curiosities there is something to strike everyone's fancy. 




WINNER: The Dice Cup

Located on Mansfield Road, The Dice Cup blend tasty snacks and comforting drinks with super fun and exciting games that you can play right there in store. With hundreds of games available to play and a mouth-watering selection of delicious cakes to choose from; you're sure to have a fun time here. Dogs are welcome too!



WINNER: Handmade Nottingham

Championing our city’s artists, this cute shop on King's Walk is a creative hub for those who like all that is local, unique and beautiful. With seasonal markets where you can meet the makers, and a great range of one off jewellery, cards, textiles, and home accessories, drop in to buy some beautiful locally made items you won't find anywhere else.



WINNER: Flint Barbers

Considering they've only been open a year, the King Street based barbers have already gained an army of loyal customers and they're showing no sign of slowing down any time soon! Their dedication to keeping up with the latest trends and techniques mixed with the super friendly team has quickly made Flint the go-to barbers for many in Nottingham.



WINNER: Peggy’s Skylight

Peggy's Skylight set out with the mission of creating a space where the regions jazz and blues could call home and combining that with soul-warming dishes. Crafty creatives flock to this hub of all things knittable in Nottingham. Not only stocking a fab range of yarn in its Trinity Walk store, they also host socials and workshops, making this a tight knit community (sorry!) that welcomes anyone curious about getting into the craft.

Endorsed by the likes of Quentin Tarantino and Paul Smith, it's one of the city’s best loved success stories and will be no doubt be celebrating film for many years to come.
