The weekend is nearly upon us folks and where better to spend it than the best value city for a short break over the August Bank Holiday weekend - the one and only… Nottingham! That’s right, we’ve been ranked/ voted/ chosen by TripAdvisor as the best value city break for your three-dayer-off-worker (official term now coined by us) coming in at a reasonable £681 for two people over three days including hotels, food, taxis and activities.

While we clean up the confetti and party streamers from the office floor, why not take a look at our recommendation of 20 places to go, things to do, offers to be had and hotels to be napped in Nottingham city centre.

Great Hotels

If you’re coming from outside of Nottingham or simply need a place to recommend to a friend then our city centre has some great hotels on offer, including a touch of luxury from St James Hotel and The Lace Market hotel, and perfectly located places from Strathdon Hotel, Mercure Hotel, The Britannia Hotel, Hilton Hotel and The Crowne Plaza Hotel.

Slug & Lettuce Beach Party

We cannot guarantee good weather but we can promise a tiki-tastic time at the Slug & Lettuce beach party on Friday, Saturday and Sunday night. Enjoy a Havana Club and Tropical Red Bull for only £4.95 and don’t forget to come dressed in your brightest beach get up to really get the party started.

Mayweather vs McGregor Bout

Even if you’re not a boxing fan it’s hard to escape the excitement behind this fascinating match up. Are you Team Mayweather or Team McGregor, or do you simply fancy staying up late and sinking in the atmosphere? Crime and Cocktails at The National Justice Museum

Fancy donning your detective’s hat this weekend and solving a murder most foul at The National Justice Museum? Their Crime and Cocktails evening takes place on Sunday 27th August from 7pm – 9pm and is only £16.50 including a cocktail on arrival. Find out more here.

Red Dog Saloon Bottomless Prosecco and Bloody Marys

Its bottoms up at Red Dog Saloon, where you can enjoy unlimited Bloody Marys or Prosecco for £15 per person for a 90 minute sitting on Monday 28th August. Enjoy your drinks with a delicious offering from their menu and make the most of the final day of your long weekend.

Bistrot Pierre menu

Ahhh the long weekend is tres magnifique so whisk yourself away and enjoy a taste of France at Bistrot Pierre. Their Fin De Weekend menu is only £21.50 per person and comes with two courses and a carafe of white, red or rosé Cuvée 94. Taking the kids out for food? Enjoy a main, dessert and drink for only £6.50.  

Revolucion De Cuba Notting Hill Carnival Party 

Enjoy the party atmosphere of the infamous Notting Hill Carnival right here in the city centre at Revs De Cuba! Get the party started on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening with live bands, amazing DJs, limbo, a confetti party and a 5pm – 7pm happy hour. Cocktails will also be on 2-4-1 from 3pm to 7pm on Monday too. 

Annie’s Country Brunch and Bluegrass Jamboree

Annie sure knows how to put on a celebration and Bank Holiday Monday is no exception! Head on over for their bluegrass band, pancake eating contest, guest stalls, hay rides, games, coffee talks form 200 Degrees Coffee, food and cocktail demos, plus 16 main breakfast dishes will be served all the way through until 4pm! Beauty Temple

If you’ve partied your way through the weekend or simply fancy a little pamper time then the Beauty Temple is the place to go. Take advantage of their summer deals, including Massage in the Tropics with a royal back massage, Elemis Tropical facial and scalp and shoulder massage for £49, or get beach ready with a back scrub, body brushing, body wrap and scalp and shoulder massage for the same price. 

Nottingham Beach

We’re keeping our fingers crossed for good weather folks, and if the sun has his shades on then why not grab yours too and hit the Nottingham city centre beach. Revolution Bank Holiday party

Enjoy live DJs all day long at Revolution Cornerhouse starting at 2pm and going all the way through until 3am. It’s free entry all weekend and there’ll be shot girls and guys, as well as a CO2 cannon for those true Nottingham party animals.

Rescue Rooms Beer Festival

The first ever Rescue Rooms Beer Festival takes place on Sunday 27th August and there’s a brilliant range of experts ready to quench your thirst. The main bar will be taken over by Beavertown, and there’s local takeovers from Black Iris Brewery, Blue Monkey, Castle Rock and many more! The main venue will be turned into a German Beer Hall too. Be At One Bank Holiday weekender

Put your hands up in the air if you want a cocktail called ‘When the Crowd Say Bu’ cocktail for only £5 until 10pm; that’s exactly what Be At One are offering for their Bank Holiday Weekender event from the 27th – 29th August. Plus, it’s 2-4-1 happy hour all night on Monday.

It feels like we’ve been waiting a lonnnnng time for the doughnut gods at Krispy Kreme to open a store in Nottingham city centre, and our prayers have now been answered! Head over to intu Victoria Centre lower mall for delicious flavours perfectly washed down with their signature coffee. We expect this to be pretty busy over the Bank Holiday weekend guys!

Summer Holiday ice skating at the National Ice Centre

If you’re looking for something really cool to do over the Bank Holiday then slide on over to the National Ice Centre for their summer school holiday skating sessions.
