Top 10 Student Bites on a Budget

Posted on: 12 September 2017

Ahhh to be a student again. Those long lie-ins, that one day of the week with one hour of lectures and spending your last £10 on a fancy dress outfit for the next student union party...

It’s been a while since we studied but we do have a first class degree in the best places to grab food deals in Nottingham city centre with and without your student card! We’ve picked ten of the best offers; from well-known chains to Nottingham independents, French fancies to mighty meat dishes and more. Eating in Nottingham city centre is a whole lot cheaper than you think...

Sign up for our Student Fest on Wednesday 4th October here!

1. George’s Kitchen, Queen Street

Delicious fish is always the catch of the day at good old friendly George’s and the smiles keep on coming with 15% off their entire food menu from Sunday to Wednesday. We’ve done the maths and you could enjoy two courses for as little as £13 or three for only £17, which leaves room in the bank for a delicious sweet shop themed cocktail including Parma Violet and Lemon Sherbet. These quirky classics are £8 for two from 2pm to 8pm every. single. day!

2. Bistrot Pierre, Milton Street

Say ‘Bonjour’ to your new city with a delicious dinner at Bistro Pierre, which is perfect for a cosy dinner for two and a great place for your folks to take you when they visit! Enjoy their two course pre-theatre menu for only £14.95 per person from 5.30pm to 6.45pm daily, and get 20% off their a la carte menu from Sunday to Friday. If you’re feeling a little extravagant then why not book in for their six course Soiree Gastronomique menu on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month for £22.95 per person. (Excludes December)

3. MOD Pizza, Long Row

Students and pizza go together like Robin Hood and Maid Marian (even if you’re new to the city you’ll know these lovely two) and one of the best places for a quick and delicious slice of the action is MOD Pizza. For only £7.47 you can get any amount of toppings and never pay for extras! So treat yourself to that random combo of anchovies and pineapple with a dollop of pesto and still be quids in. Plus, get 20% off with your student card – making an 11 inch pizza with unlimited toppings only £5.98!

4. Slug & Lettuce, Foreman Street

Half price food is always good, but half price food on a Monday is that little bit sweeter. It’s 50% off food on Monday’s (excluding Bank Holidays) and no student card is needed, and you can also grab lunch for a fiver every Tuesday too. Plus, pop and see the lovely folk at S&L to pick up your very own discount card which gives you 25% off! Simply head in and show your student card to get one.

5. Baresca, Byard Lane

This gorgeous independent tapas treasure sits in the trendy heart of Nottingham city centre, and although they offer no student discount they do have a tasty £10.95 Menu Del Dia from 12pm – 6.45pm Sunday to Thursday, and 12pm – 5pm Friday – Saturday. This includes two tapas dishes, one side and fresh flatbread – perfect for sharing with friends and settling into your new city.

6. Sobar, Friar Lane

You may have guessed from the name that they do not serve any alcohol in this city centre gem, and that’s because they are funded by the Nottingham based drug and alcohol abuse charity Double Impact which help people through their recovery – amazing eh? You can enjoy 10% off all food and drink with your student card, and also get a free tea or Americano with any breakfast item before 11am – perfect for those ‘I’m in a rush on the way to my lecture’ mornings.

7. Revolucion De Cuba, Market Street

Grab those maracas and shimmy your way over to Revs De Cuba, where the party atmosphere is always around! There’s no student specific deals (you can’t win them all) but they have vibrant 2-4-1 rum based cocktails between 3pm and 7pm Monday to Friday, and 5pm to 7pm every Saturday. If you fancy a little chill time after a crazy weekend then try their Havana Good Time specials every Sunday which include 2-4-1 on tapas, coffee and cocktails – Ariiiibbbbaaaaaa folks!

8. Pieminister, Long Row

As the nights get colder and darker who else is craving pie and mash? Head over to Pieminister for some proper good grub, tasty gravy and creative cocktails, plus you’ll receive 10% off every single day with your student card and cocktails are 2-4-1 before 7pm every day too! Stay tuned as from October they’ll be launching a Student Social Club, which gives you access to special offers and events every Tuesday – we’ll reveal more when we have it guys!

Plus, show your student card and get 10% off food from 12pm to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
