Championing nature in the heart of Nottingham

We are thrilled to announce a new partnership with Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust.

This exciting collaboration aims to support and expand the bee-friendly highway - an initiative designed to boost pollinator habitats through the city centre, while helping local businesses connect with nature and become part of the growing Wilder Nottinghamshire Network. Through expert advice and practical opportunities, businesses will be empowered to play their part in making Nottingham greener and more wildlife friendly.
As part of the initiative, It’s in Nottingham, in collaboration with Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust and Grow Notts, has installed a vibrant, pollinator-friendly planter on Bridlesmith Gate. Adorned with eye-catching artwork and educational signage, the planter highlights the crucial role of bees and other pollinators in maintaining a healthy environment. This forms part of a broader network of planters maintained by local businesses, demonstrating the power of community in supporting urban biodiversity.
Alex Flint, CEO of It’s in Nottingham, commented:
“We’re delighted to collaborate and showcase the best of Nottingham to an even wider audience. So much great work has already taken place for wildlife and nature in the city, and we want to encourage more people to get involved, learn more, and enjoy what makes Nottingham so special.”
The partnership goes beyond planters. It’s in Nottingham will also sponsor the upcoming NWT Wilder Business Award, which celebrates businesses across Nottinghamshire making meaningful contributions to wildlife and sustainability.
This partnership aligns naturally with the core values of both organisations. It’s in Nottingham’s Environment and Sustainability Policy that promotes “a clean, green, healthy city,” while NWT’s vision is “that Nottinghamshire’s people and wildlife are thriving together.”
Together, we'll engage with stakeholders, partners, and visitors to raise awareness of how everyone can act for nature, whether at work, at home, or while enjoying the city.
Emily Patrick, Partnerships and Trusts Manager at Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, added:
“It’s fantastic to be working with It’s in Nottingham. Their energy and dedication to making Nottingham a great place to live and visit is inspiring. This partnership will help us deliver even more for wildlife in the city and inspire more people to get involved.”
Through this initiative and with the support of EMEC, NWT’s in-house environmental consultancy, businesses and organisations in Nottingham city centre can access expert advice and services to help nature thrive.
This is more than a project - it’s a movement to create a greener, healthier, and wilder Nottingham. Together, we can enhance biodiversity, improve wellbeing, and make our city a shining example of nature in urban spaces.
