Go vintage for Second Hand September
Second Hand September is a national campaign to encourage all of us to shop second-hand, reuse, re-wear and restyle over the next month and beyond.

We love a bit of
eco-friendly shopping, so what better time to highlight some of the best second-hand, charity and vintage outlets you can find in Nottingham city centre – ps, it's not just clothing!
First opened in the summer of 2021, 101 Vintage sources and supplies
USA vintage and retro clothing. All of their stock is handpicked, freshly laundered and curated to impress. Expect lots of 90s and Y2K brands, bold American graphics, denim and workwear essentials. If you like NASCAR or USA sport in general they’ll surely have something for you.

The relatively new kid on the block, having opened up this April in the premises, known for the previous decade as Braderie. Indeed, the shop was founded by a former member of the Braderie team and they’ve kept on many of the same suppliers, but added some new American college wear lines, too.
The name is the Danish word for vintage.

British Heart Foundation Charity Shop
Offering everything from clothing, shoes and accessories to books, toys and homeware, its
range of second hand furniture is where British Heart Foundation Nottingham really comes into its own. If you’re looking for a bed, sofa, wardrobe or cabinet and you’re on a budget then this should be your first port of call. They also run a free furniture collection service, which is really useful if you’re looking to move house and get rid of a few items.
12-14 Clumber Street NG1 3GA
A national vintage chain with branches in Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool, London and Manchester – as well as Nottingham – Cow now have two stores in our city centre. We'd recommend starting with the oldest one on Carlton Street to find stock from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 00s. Their company aims to offer a
sustainable alternative to fast fashion and they’re udderly great at it!
3 Carlton Street, Nottingham NG1 1NL
Another relatively new kid on the block, having taken over one of the beautiful newly-painted buildings on Bridlesmith Gate earlier this year. Garms' roots are from up north with stores in Newcastle and Durham along with an online and wholesale business. Expect to find brands like
Stussy, Carhartt, Stone Island, Levi’s, North Face and Patagonia, among many others inside.

Hopkinson Antiques and Vintage
Hopkinson is more like a vintage and second hand mall than just a shop. Inside, over three floors, you will find all kinds of
antiques, art, clothing, homeware, shoes and various other oddities. The building acts as an incubator for smaller businesses and traders like; Hops (coffee bar), Zone 21 (retro cards and games), Silver Fox (jewellery), Skellebobz (barbers), Watches In Wonderland (that's right, watches), Style Hunter (homewares) and Lulu Brandy (vintage clothing).

Relic x Hooked
This shop is born of a collaboration between vintage clothing brand Relic and trainer retailer Hooked. They do a great line in vintage graphic T-shirts, trainers, baggy jeans and loafers and stock all the
vintage brands from the UK, US and beyond. As well as this store, they also have premises in Birmingham and Leeds. They showcase a lot of their stock on TikTok.
40-42 Bridlesmith Gate NG1 2GQ
For over 40 years this shop has stood the test of time on Broad Street. Among its rich history, actor Mathew Horne (aka Gavin from Gavin and Stacey) worked Saturdays here and film director Quentin Tarantino once peered through the window. If you’re looking for
Dickies, Doc Martens and Levi’s be sure to stop by this place and don’t forget to check out the lovely vinyl shop in the basement.
4-6 Broad Street, Nottingham NG1 3AL
White Rose is a big success story in the city after the business was set up in 2009 by two Nottingham Trent University graduates. They’ve since expanded to 15 outlets including Derby, Leicester and Sheffield as well as 11 across Nottinghamshire.
The two stores we’d draw your attention to in particular are WR6 (where you can find a large range of ladies' wear) and their Outlet store on Beastmarket Hill, where there’s
funky clothing for everyone.
White Rose 6 (Ladieswear): Ground Level, 25 Long Row, Nottingham NG1 2DR
White Rose Outlet 3 (Men's, Women's & Kids): 10 Beastmarket Hill, Nottingham NG1 6BS
