Meet Jessica, the Campaign and Brand Executive at It's in Nottingham.

What is your connection to Nottingham, and what do you love most about it?

I came to Nottingham for University. I’d viewed a few different ones, and honestly? My open day at the University of Nottingham was the only one where it didn’t rain, and that decided it. The beauty of the campus and city in the sunshine definitely helped my decision, but it really was that simple. And I’m so glad I came!

I studied Philosophy and Theology, then MSc Marketing. I loved my time at Nottingham so much that I ran for SU President.

I loved this role. I got to see just how many people went into making Nottingham a great place to live and study, and it really helped me fall deeper in love with the city. Working closely with the officers at UoNSU and NTSU, we did our best to represent all students studying in Nottingham, whether it was meeting royalty or being the mascot at Varsity.

I’m definitely biased, but what I love most about Nottingham is the unis and SUs! They carry out world-changing research and offer such great opportunities to the students. The pride and culture they create is second to none… just head to Varsity Ice Hockey, and you’ll see what I mean!

What is your role at It’s in Nottingham, and how did you get into it?

My role is Campaign and Brand Executive, and I sit in the Marketing team. I work closely with the Project Executives to shout about the events they host and bring as many people to them as possible! I also make sure the It’s in Nottingham brand is always looking perfect.

When I graduated from my Marketing MSc, I knew I wanted to do something good with it, to help people and communities thrive. In my last role, I was a communications and fundraising coordinator for a child safety charity in Bedfordshire. It was an absolute privilege to tell stories of survivors of abuse to educate the community.

But my love for Nottingham brought me back to the city, and now I’m so excited to represent the incredible people and businesses we have.

What is your favourite hidden gem in Nottingham that visitors often overlook?

Canalhouse. Outside. Sun. Cider. Stunning.
