What's your connection to Nottingham, and what do you love most about it?
I moved to Nottingham from Greece in 2018 to study Photography at NTU, and even though it's been four years since I graduated, this city still has a hold on me. Growing up in a small rural town on an island, where not much happens, made me appreciate Nottingham’s vibrant, creative energy even more. The quirky character, the thriving arts scene, and the sheer variety of things to do made it feel like a home away from home. To this day, I can’t quite explain it, but Nottingham just fits.
What's your role at It's in Nottingham, and how did you get into it?
As the Business Liaison Officer for the hospitality and leisure sector, I’ve had the chance to grow and evolve quickly in a role that blends my passions with my experience. Before this, I spent over seven years in hospitality, working just about every role there is. That hands-on experience gave me a deep, well-rounded understanding of the industry, which has been invaluable in my current position.
At the same time, my creative background - studying photography and continuing to explore it in my own time, allows me to bring a fresh, open-minded approach to my work at It’s in Nottingham. It’s the perfect mix of business, creativity, and community.
If you had just one day to experience the best of Nottingham, what would you do?
One of the things I love most about Nottingham is how walkable it is. Whether I’m strolling by the canal, sipping coffee in Hockley, or wandering up towards the Castle, I never feel too far from anything.
If I had just one day, I’d start with a coffee at Dispatch, their brews are top-tier! Then, I’d pop into Nottingham Contemporary to check out the latest exhibition and browse their gift shop. A trip to Broadway Cinema is a must - it’s a city staple, and their café bar is a great place to soak up the atmosphere.
For dinner, it would have to be Little Brickhouse on Derby Road, the cosy, eclectic vibe, the incredible food and wine, and the warm hospitality make it unbeatable. And, of course, the night wouldn’t be complete without a stop at JamCafe for a drink to round things off.
