Meet Nikita, the Business Relationship Manager at It's in Nottingham

Posted: Feb 2025

What is your connection to Nottingham, and what do you love most about it?

I was attracted to Nottingham’s vibrancy and creativity long before I moved here. There’s always something happening and plenty of beautiful areas to explore both within and outside the city. My friends and I spent several years talking about moving here before we eventually did in February 2020 – just in time for the first lockdown! Despite this, we managed to settle right in, and Nottingham felt like a true home.

My favourite thing about the city is the community-feel it has and how everything feels like a partnership. As well as this, everyone makes you feel so welcome. As soon as I had the opportunity to get out and meet people I instantly knew I'd chosen the right place to live.

What is your role at It’s in Nottingham, and how did you get into it?

My life in Nottingham (after the lockdown) started when I joined the wonderful team at 31K - an independent cocktail bar in Hockley. Through them, I met so many amazing people - including the It's in Nottingham team! Working in the hospitality sector meant I got to know the city and its people even more, so my passion and desire to support it grew. Through the years, I learned what It’s in Nottingham does to help the city and I decided I wanted in. I’m now working as Business Relationship Manager, with a fearsome team working to make the city safer and healthier.

What is your favourite hidden gem in Nottingham that visitors often overlook?

Living by the river, I think it’s something that should be explored more by people visiting Nottingham. The walk is lovely from the city as you can walk along the canal the whole way and there’s a cute café by the water that does great hot chocolate! The memorial gardens are also worth a visit while you’re down there.
