# Nottingham soapbox racers...Go Go Go!

 Teams of brave soapbox racers tackled the Nottingham course - in the heart of Old Market Square

We're looking back to 10 May 2026 when twenty-eight teams of intrepid racers were cheered on by an excited crowd of over 35,000 spectators, gathered in Nottingham city centre for a thrilling day of soapbox racing.

Large numbers of visiting and local families and friends enjoyed a full day of fun and racing for all ages – and the fearless soapbox racers didn't disappoint, as the teams set off down the gigantic four-metre-high ramp and into the cheering and flag-waving spectators in the Old Market Square.

Spectators also enjoyed live commentary and a chance to meet mascots; champion racer, Sir Sidney Cartalot, Robin Hood and Douglas, the Parameduck, whilst all the action was broadcast on massive screens.

This full-on celebration of creativity, speed, and community spirit - which saw teams race gravity-powered soapbox cars through Nottingham's Old Market Square - supported charity partner, the incredible [**Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance**](https://www.ambucopter.org.uk/).
