That’s why we’re delighted to join forces with Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust (NWT) to champion their inspiring Wilder Nottinghamshire initiative and invite city centre businesses, especially our valued members, to take an active role.
What is Wilder Nottinghamshire?
Wilder Nottinghamshire is a bold, community-powered movement launched by NWT to help create a healthier, more nature-rich county by 2030. The Trust knows they can’t do it alone, so they’ve built a growing Wilder Nottinghamshire Network, uniting volunteers, community groups, landowners, and businesses in a collective effort to restore nature and inspire action in local neighbourhoods
The network began less than six months ago and already includes over 50 groups - everything from campaigners working to limit chemical weedkillers to community gardens making space for wildlife. If you're making Nottingham greener, quieter, or wilder, you're already part of the change!
Introducing the Wilder Nottinghamshire Awards
To celebrate all this local action, NWT launched the Wilder Nottinghamshire Awards, open to anyone - from individuals and community groups to schools, farms, and yes, businesses.
One of the award categories is the Wilder Business Award, spotlighting businesses big or small that are actively protecting or restoring nature in their communities.
These awards are designed to inspire more people to get involved, whether that means creating wildlife spaces, supporting local habitats, or advocating for nature’s recovery. NWT aims to keep the entry process simple - just tell them who’s taking action and how it’s helping nature.
Why It’s in Nottingham is proud to support
We’re not just cheering from the sidelines. It’s in Nottingham is pleased to step in as a sponsor of the Wilder Business Award, celebrating the environmental efforts of local businesses. By doing so, we’re amplifying the message that sustainability and commerce go hand in hand - and that business can be a powerful force for good.
We’ve already put our roots down in the city centre: together with NWT and Grow Notts, we’ve installed a vibrant, pollinator-friendly planter on Bridlesmith Gate. This sits alongside our commitment to connecting businesses through the Bee-Friendly Highway, giving them opportunities and visibility, as they make Nottingham greener.
