Simon Thacker’s boundary-breaking ensemble, Ritmata, is the musical laboratory of Scotland’s “musical alchemist” (World Music Report). Mixing intricate compositions with instinctive improvisation, the Edinburgh-born classical guitarist and composer creates primal and multi-layered sound worlds taking inspiration from Native America, medieval alchemy, Indian music and philosophy, Sephardic music, flamenco, Moroccan traditions and Ancient Roman mythology.
The centrepiece from Ritmata’s extraordinary debut album Tàradh, Quadriga in 5, was nominated for The Ivors Composer Awards, the most prestigious in the UK, in the category of “Best Jazz Composition for Small Ensemble” in 2019.
This event follows an earlier concert with the London Philharmonic Orchestra. For more details click here.
