Why did you move to Nottingham, and what do you love about the city?

I moved to Nottingham as a student at Nottingham Trent University after completely falling in love with the city during an open day. Those four years were filled with incredible memories - my friends and I adored everything Nottingham had to offer, from its art galleries and green spaces to its buzzing dance floors and, of course, our much-needed Wetherspoons breakfasts after a night out.

This city gave me lifelong friendships, and every time they visit, we make a point of revisiting our old favorites while also exploring the exciting new places that have popped up. Staying in Nottingham after university allowed me to rediscover and appreciate the city in new ways. Working at It’s in Nottingham has only deepened my love for this place, especially through meeting the brilliant people who make it so vibrant and dynamic.

What’s your role at It’s in Nottingham, and how did you get into it?

I work as a Project Executive, where I help plan campaigns, projects, and sponsorships alongside our fantastic team. I studied Product Design at Nottingham Trent University and, during my time there, worked in events at NTSU, Stealth, and The Magic Garden. My role at It’s in Nottingham is a perfect blend of my passions - events, planning, and creativity - which makes it feel like a full-circle moment. It’s incredibly rewarding to use my experience to enhance the city that has been my home and community for the past 10 years.

What’s your favorite hidden gem in the city that visitors often overlook?

Nottingham has so many hidden gems, and it’s tough to choose just one! For food and drinks, I love the terrace at Coco Tang, the cozy atmosphere of Pepper Rocks, the speakeasy charm of Tilt, and the secret cave at Whistle & Flute.

For shopping, Handmade Nottingham, Hopkinson, and Tokenhouse are must-visits, along with the beautifully curated spaces of Debbie Bryan and Shop Zero. Each of these places offers something unique, whether it’s independent artistry, vintage treasures, or sustainable finds.

If you had just one day to experience the best of Nottingham, what would you do?

Get ready, it’s a jam-packed day! We’d start with brunch at Public and Plants, chai in hand, before exploring the shops in Victoria Centre or taking a stroll through Nottingham Contemporary. Lunch calls for pizza at Slice ‘n’ Brew, followed by an afternoon of fun - maybe a round of golf at Gloryholes or shuffleboard at Roxy Ballroom.

As evening falls, we’d fuel up with corndogs and ramen at Everyday People before diving into Nottingham’s incredible nightlife. Cocktails at Coco Tang, 31K, and Tier, a pint at Bodega, and finally, dancing the night away at Rock City. And, of course, no Nottingham night is complete without a late-night McDonald's stop while passing through Market Square, taking a moment by the Left Lion to soak in the city’s electric energy before heading home.
