It’s no secret that Nottingham has a competitive restaurant community within the city centre, from your well-known national chains, to established independent venues. And to add to the great choice of venues, The Wine Room City, which can be found in Nottingham’s historical Lace Market area on High Pavement has recently joined the scene.

The Wine Room City opened in 2021 following the success of their sister bar, The Wine Room Mapperley.
When we were kindly invited along by the restaurant to sample their 7-course paired taster menu, you can imagine, we jumped at the chance!
Course 1; Beef consommé, cauliflower espuma, sourdough crouton and chives. Paired with: Seaward Chenin Blanc
Course 2; Pan fried halibut with sautéed baby gem lettuce, mussels, and a butter sauce. Paired with: Coastal Chablis
Course 3; Heritage tomato with a basil mayonnaise crème fraîche, sourdough croutons and spring herbs with a split tomato and basil sauce.
Paired with: Mirabeau Azure
Course 4; Pan fried horseradish centre cut filet with potato gratin, confit onion and a port sauce. Paired with: Angelo Veglio Barolo
Course 5; Gin sorbet, elderflower foam and lemon served with shortbread. Paired with: Limoncello
Course 6; White chocolate and strawberry parfait with a strawberry and basil sauce. Paired with: Maury Grenat
Course 7; Poached rhubarb with a rhubarb meringue, caramel, and vanilla custard. Paired with Eclat Semillon
